Largs is an attractive town on the Ayrshire coast. The spectacular scenery with the islands to the west and the rolling countryside to the east, welcomes visitors back year after year.

Take a walk along the promenade from Largs Yacht Haven and Marina, passing the Pencil monument (commemorating the Battle of Largs in 1263) and on to Largs Pier where you can catch a ferry to the Isle of Cumbrae or, in the summer months, take a trip on the Waverley, the world’s last sea going paddle steamer. Continue your stroll, perhaps stopping off at the world famous Nardini’s for an ice cream, passing the Vikingar! visitor centre and finishing up at Aubery boating pond.

Largs has successfully combined a relaxing atmosphere with the friendliness of the people, together with the vibrancy of a resort town. There are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and places to visit if you ever tire of admiring the scenery.

For the more energetic there are two challenging golf courses, one at either end of the town, tennis courts, indoor, outdoor and ten pin bowling, swimming pool, Inverclyde National Sports Centre and some of the best sailing waters in the country.

Visit Vikingar! where costumed storytellers will bring to life the history of the Vikings in Scotland. Or perhaps an outing to Kelburn Country Centre with its Adventure Course Pony Trekking, Falconry displays, children’s Soft Play area, Pet’s Corner and beautiful walks through Kelburn Glen.

No visit to Largs would be complete without a trip to the Isle of Cumbrae. A short ten minute ferry journey and you will feel that you are in a completely different world! The preferred mode of transport on the island is the bicycle and the ten mile ride around the island is a popular pastime. Or perhaps you would rather relax on the award winning beach and have a snack or meal in one of the cafes or restaurants.

If you wish to travel further afield, Largs is an ideal base for exploring Burns Country, the birthplace of our national Bard, Robert Burns. Or a trip to the beautiful Isle of Arran, which has been named “Scotland In Miniature”. If  shopping and culture is your passion, Glasgow is only one hour away with its wealth of designer and high street stores as well as the Burrell Collection , Kelvingrove Museum, Glasgow Science Centre and many others, too numerous to mention.
